Mastiii 4 Review: Comedy Drowned in Chaos and Cringe

Mastiii 4 Review: A Wild Ride With Few Real Laughs

Mastiii 4, the latest installment in Bollywood’s long-running adult-comedy franchise, arrives with loud gags, familiar faces, and a formula audiences know all too well. Starring Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi and Aftab Shivdasani, this fourth entry promises laughter and nostalgia—but ends up delivering a mixed bag of humour, chaos and over-the-top cringe.

If you enjoy slapstick energy, innuendo-filled jokes and exaggerated performances, Mastiii 4 might keep you entertained for a while. But if you’re looking for fresh comedy or smart writing, this film is likely to test your patience.

Story: Three Husbands, One Big Misadventure

Set in the UK, Mastiii 4 follows three friends trapped in monotonous marriages:

  • Amar (Riteish Deshmukh) – married to Bindiya, who is excessively charity-driven
  • Meet (Vivek Oberoi) – constantly monitored by his hyper-suspicious wife, Anchal
  • Prem (Aftab Shivdasani) – dealing with a highly ritualistic wife, Geeta

Seeking excitement, the trio plans a harmless escape from their dull daily routines. But one small mischief spirals into a full-blown storm of confusion, misunderstandings and high-stakes madness. The chaos doubles when their wives decide to join the “masti” on their own terms.

Direction & Screenplay: High Energy, Low Innovation

Director Milap Milan Zaveri, along with co-writer Farrokh Dhondy, sticks tightly to the franchise’s tried-and-tested formula:

  • Adult jokes
  • Misunderstandings
  • Slapstick situations
  • Pop-culture spoofs

Some spoofs—like the Animal reference “sunai de raha hai, behra nahi hoon main” and a nod to Amar Akbar Anthony—land well and add to the laughter. But several others feel stretched, losing impact as they drag on.

The screenplay keeps the pace brisk but relies heavily on dated sexual innuendos, genital jokes, and exaggerated slapstick that often feel repetitive and tiring.

Performances: Riteish Shines, Vivek Looks Tired

The cast goes all out to match the film’s loud tone:

Riteish Deshmukh

  • Steals the show with impeccable timing
  • Delivers solid punchlines consistently

Aftab Shivdasani

  • Loud but effective in parts
  • Fits well into the franchise’s chaotic world

Vivek Oberoi

  • Surprisingly low on spark
  • Appears tired and less enthusiastic compared to previous installments

Supporting Cast

  • Arshad Warsi is delightful in his cameo
  • Nargis Fakhri adds charm
  • Tusshar Kapoor as Don Pablo is funny initially but the forced Bihari accent wears thin
  • Elnaaz Norouzi gets the meatiest female role and performs well
  • Ruhi Singh and Shreya Sharma offer decent support

However, the female characters are underutilized, mostly placed to raise glam appeal without strong narrative contribution.

Humour & Music: A Mixed Experience

The humour swings between mildly amusing and painfully cringe. Some punchlines genuinely land, but many rely on:

  • Obvious innuendo
  • Overdone slapstick
  • Adult jokes that feel outdated

The music, meanwhile, adds little value. None of the songs stand out or contribute meaningfully to the narrative.

Final Verdict: A Loud, Chaotic Ride For Franchise Loyalists Only

Mastiii 4 stays true to the franchise’s DNA—noisy, naughty and unapologetically silly. It does offer:

✔ A few laughs
✔ Strong camaraderie between the leads
✔ Nostalgia for fans of the series

But it also suffers from:

✘ Predictable writing
✘ Repetitive humour
✘ Overstretched gags
✘ Cringe-heavy sequences

Rating: 2.5/5

If you love adult comedies and don’t mind loud, over-the-top humour, Mastiii 4 may entertain you for its runtime. For everyone else, this is a chaotic comedy best skipped.
