The adult comedy fails to show weekend growth as Farhan Akhtar’s ‘120 Bahadur’ overtakes it at the box office.
Masti 4 Faces a Weak Weekend Despite Franchise Hype
‘Masti 4’, starring Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh, and Aftab Shivdasani, released in theatres on October 21. Expected to benefit from franchise recall and youth appeal, the film instead opened to a dull response. Adding to its woes, the movie clashed with Farhan Akhtar’s war drama ‘120 Bahadur’, and neither film managed to create strong momentum on Day 1.
Meanwhile, last week’s release ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ continued to dominate, overshadowing both new titles.
Masti 4 Box Office Collection Day 1 to Day 3
The film showed minimal growth over the opening weekend. Adult comedies typically rely on a strong opening day, as weekend jumps are usually limited—this weekend was no different.
Box Office Breakdown:
- Day 1 (Friday): ₹ 2.75 Cr
- Day 2 (Saturday): ₹ 2.75 Cr
- Day 3 (Sunday): ₹ 3.00 Cr (early estimates)
- Total Collection (3 Days): ₹ 8.50 Cr
The film failed to cross even ₹10 crore in its first three days — a worrying sign for a franchise film. At its current pace, Masti 4 may not outperform the previous instalment, ‘Great Grand Masti’ (2016), which collected ₹8.50 crore nett on its opening weekend.
120 Bahadur Performs Better With Steady Growth
Unlike Masti 4, 120 Bahadur saw weekend growth driven by positive word of mouth. Its collections are:
- Day 1: ₹ 2.25 Cr
- Day 2: ₹ 3.85 Cr
- Day 3: ₹ 4.00 Cr
- Total: ₹ 10.10 Cr (3 Days)
The film had a reasonable jump on Saturday and Sunday, but experts note that a war drama requires larger-than-life performances to sustain momentum — something that wasn’t fully achieved.
Will Masti 4 Recover?
With poor weekend numbers and intense competition, Masti 4 is likely to struggle in the coming weekdays. The lack of strong audience pull, combined with mixed reviews, may restrict the film’s lifetime business significantly.
